Niccolo Ammaniti's novel was the basis of the 2003 film by Gabriele Salvatores. Childhood, especially Soui family conflicts, is the theme of this drama movie. This is a child, Michael, who must have the experience to assume a great responsibility happen to find themselves in the middle of a horrible crime, an event that teaches him courage and puts his relationship with his father to the test. A sweltering summer, a tiny town and people from lower middle class with a terrible secret create an atmosphere that makes the movie very realistic. Also from the perspective of this story is told chronologically Michele and ends in disaster originated the search for quick cash. This small Sicilian town not isolated to hide the human nature, so it's a perfect stage for a social drama of the day.
The film reminds the audience to his family, his neighbors, friends Soui. It does not say that anyone can be bad, but hidden in the family, in small companies there exists a dark side. Michael, the child has a destiny to awaken the good in adults and to learn that it often takes a disaster to strengthen relationships with loved ones Soui.
